Always elegantly bold, the Gaston Cabernet is decadence epitomized. The 2017 vintage is no exception. Its nose bright and welcoming with aromas of cassis and blackberry. Nuances of sage and roasting coffee beans coat the palate. It would be tempting pair this wine with a lavish dinner - Amalia’s roasted duck breast floating in a porcini broth and taleggio cheese polenta comes immediately to mind. However, the wine’s perfectly integrated tannins and smooth, long finish is spectacular on its own. The 2017 vintage will certainly reward you with time in the bottle, but it’s worthy of a glass tonight just the same.
