After a three-year hiatus from making Gaston, the 2005 vintage marked a welcome return. The fruit from this vintage comes from the Tennis Court parcel; the soil features tailings from the cave, giving the grapes a very rocky foundation. The resulting struggle translates into a wine of ecstatic concentration. The aromas suggest cherry cola and chocolate caramel, inviting the taster to dive in with abandon. This big-personality wine will serve as a lively addition to any boisterous after-dinner chocolates and cigar revelry.
